I’ve been a web developer for the past 7 years. Here are a few lessons I’ve learned along the way🧵👇

Learn by doing 👨‍💻

Everything except building and shipping is procrastination.

Building apps and gettings hands dirty will teach you 1000x more than reading or watching videos

Learn one thing at a time 🤹‍

In beginning, you will be anxious and try to learn everything.

That is self-harm. If you try to catch two rabbits at once, you will catch none.

Learn single thing at a time.

Be patient 🧘‍♂️

Online communities being crowded by all the advanced concepts can make you feel left out.

But be patient. You will get there soon.

Stay consistent 🎯

Consistency is the most powerful thing.

If you stay consistent and put in the hours then suddenly things will start to make sense

Avoid shiny thing ✨

While learning frameworks, a new framework may appear and grab the interest of the internet.

At that time, don’t get distracted. Follow your roadmap & everything will fall in its place

Write Notes 📝

This is very important. Notes will be very useful to you in the future.

It can be used to retain what you learn even after a long time

You can also convert the notes into Tweets, blog posts, and articles to teach others what you learned along the way

Create tons of projects 📽

Creating projects will fill gaps in your skillset.

Projects can also be used as social proof to land a job or clients in the future

Teach others 👨‍🏫

When one teaches, two learn

Teaching others will help you retain what you learned & also learn new things.

You can mentor people, write articles, write Twitter threads, create videos on youtube & TikTok

Review Other’s code 📃

Reviewing other codes will help you write better code.

When you review projects in GitHub, you learn to write clean and efficient codes.

Follow right people 🧑

I didn’t join Twitter when I was learning. But I suggest you join Twitter and follow the right people

If you follow the right people on Twitter then your learning will be 10x faster.

In this platform, all the professionals share best practices, which helps beginners to learn faster
